Senior Software Developer

I was recently promoted to Senior Software Developer at HOK. As our small team of devs has grown, I’ve taken on more team-focused tasks: code reviews, hiring and on-boarding, longer-term planning and organizing, and fostering collaboration and best practices for the team.

The resources and stories at Staff Engineer have been really valueable in mapping the landscape of what future paths might look like for me and understanding the value of things like being glue.

Terrible (but Terrific) Twos

My son is two now, and we’re certainly in the thick of it. Every week he’s showing us something new, and sometimes that means new emotions, new ways of testing boundaries, and new things to get upset about. He’s becoming more independent every day, developing his own interests, and cultivating a wonderful imagination. Up next: potty training. Pray for us.

Cultivating this website as a digital garden

With this website refresh, I’m hoping the friction in adding is low enough that I can publish personal notes to a wider audience with more frequency and that it gives me the extra push to put a little extra polish on them. I’ll expand on this more in my first or second note.
